How to read japanese apartment layouts?

The number represents the number of rooms in the property.
The alphabet after the number represents the area’s purpose.

R = Room
K = Kitchen
DK = Dining, Kitchen
LDK = Living, Dining, Kitchen
SLDK = Service room/storage space, Living, Dining, Kitchen

For example, 2LDK means two bedrooms and a separate area for the Living room, Dining, and Kitchen.

1R layout is the same with a studio type apartment, a single room with a kitchen, toilet, and bathroom in the same area.
